Double-furnace lines

Automatic cathode charging and melt transfer systems are standard.

Double-furnace UPCAST® lines comprise of separate melting and holding furnaces connected with a launder. There are several melting and holding furnace combinations available with total volumes ranging from 11 to 40 tons of molten copper. The required output determines the furnace combination to be used. Maximum output from a double-furnace UPCAST® line is 40,000 TPA.

All furnaces are electrically heated using channel type inductors. Both single- and double-loop types are used. A stepless power supply and control system has replaced the more conventional stepped one as the standard type.

UPCAST® is a multi-strand casting system where the number of strands depends on the production capacity. The casting machines are equipped with servo-driven withdrawal systems and there is an individual coiler for each strand.
